At 25, Arntz depicts the division between rich (against a clear background) and poor (in a gloomy environment). With its four classes, the ‘Mid-Europe’ train symbolizes class society. The railway sign above the left carriage says ‘stop here’, while the sign on the right signals ‘continue on’.
